Many target shooting and self-defense enthusiasts have watched and studied our videos demonstrating how fast a shooter can perform while maintaining exceptional accuracy. What often receives less attention, however, is how that level of speed and accuracy is developed—and how the mind processes information and makes critical, potentially life-saving decisions under the stress of a defensive situation.
At Rhino Tactical, we have always been fascinated by the science behind high-level performance, rapid decision-making, threat assessment, and defensive awareness. These principles are incorporated into our Inside and Outside the Home Defense classes, with a strong emphasis on preparing students—including women—for realistic defensive situations.

Safety and Defensive Shooting Safety
Safety is emphasized before, during, and after every class and all live-fire exercises.
Prerequisites and Requirements
This is not a basic firearms class. All students applying for this course must have completed a Rhino Tactical basic firearms class or an equivalent course and must already be familiar with their chosen weapon system.
All students will be screened to ensure their skills are appropriate for this demanding course.
Equipment and Ammunition
- Students participating in the pistol portion must provide 350 rounds of ammunition for their practical handgun.
- Students participating in the rifle or pistol-caliber carbine (PCC) portion must provide at least 350 rounds of ammunition.
- Students participating in the shotgun portion must provide at least 150 rounds of shotgun ammunition.
- .50 Action Express and other excessively powerful firearms that may be considered unsafe for this class are not permitted.
- Shotgun rentals can be provided upon request.
- Pistol rentals are also available.
- All students must provide and wear their own eye and ear protection.

Outside The Home Defense
Outside the Home Pistol, Rifle, Pistol-Caliber Carbine, or Shotgun Classes
How many times have you heard of victims finding themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time? Some were fortunate enough to live to talk about it, while others paid the ultimate price in what may have been an avoidable deadly confrontation.
In this dynamic Rhino Tactical course, students will learn the principles of street survival, personal protection, threat assessment, and defensive decision-making outside the home through classroom instruction and demanding live-fire exercises designed to challenge both their skills and their ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
